A publishing deal
For a written biography, with a publishing house.
Occasionally, a Gyaanka legacy project, a documentary biography, in particular, possesses the historical or dramatic weight to merit wider public distribution. A family's private legacy and a nation's public history are not always separate things; a Legacy Rights Partnership exists for the moments when they overlap.
A carefully structured licensing arrangement through which a family, having completed a Gyaanka legacy project, may choose to permit its wider distribution, while retaining control over how their story is represented.
For a written biography, with a publishing house.
For a documentary film, with a broadcaster or streaming partner.
Allowing a production house to develop the story further, for instance into a dramatised feature or series.
Gyaanka first identifies, or a family expresses interest in, a completed project with genuine wider appeal.
Where appropriate, we then approach or are approached by suitable publishing, broadcast or production partners on the family's behalf.
We negotiate terms that protect the family's interests, and remain involved throughout to ensure the finished result stays faithful to the life it portrays.
The family retains final approval over any agreement before it is signed.
Such partnerships are pursued selectively, only where a family expresses genuine interest and only where Gyaanka is confident the story will be represented with the integrity it deserves. Not every completed project is suited to wider distribution, and Gyaanka will say so candidly where that is the case.
Every partnership agreement is designed first to protect the family's dignity and editorial intent, and only secondarily to maximise reach or revenue.
Write to us with "Partnership Enquiry" as the subject and we will respond with care.
